CamGuides for PhD students
CamGuides is a free online resource introducing students to some of the research practices at the University of Cambridge. CamGuides for PhD students has been added to the guides that already existed for undergraduate and master’s students. CamGuides helps new PhD students to find information about moving to Cambridge, getting started in academic life, and starting to build the skills needed to succeed in their PhD. They have been written by current PhD students to collate everything they wish they had known before starting their PhDs. Packed with tips, student interviews and useful links, they contain sections on living in Cambridge, what daily life in academia is like, developing research skills, using digital tools, and finding resources.
CUL Research Skills
Library staff from across all six Schools and the Office of Scholarly Communication collaborate to deliver the Cambridge University Library (CUL) Research Skills training programme for researchers. This programme is sponsored by the Researcher Development Fund and those who attend tell us they find them sociable, practical and efficient. Planned sessions will be added to Cambridge University Libraries Training as soon as they are confirmed. In addition to live sessions, online modules on these topics can be accessed any time. The online modules contain videos, activities and further resources.
