Profile

Dr Joao Duarte is our resident Portuguese expert. He studied Biochemistry at the University of Coimbra and then went on to do a PhD in diabetes metabolism in UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas followed by a Post-doc in liver cancer metabolism in Leuven, Belgium. He is currently working with Professor Ferdia Gallagher. His research focusses on trying to make sense of the metabolic heterogeniety in kidney cancer and how to exploit it in potential future treatments.
